UBMD Neurology provides comprehensive neurological evaluation, diagnosis and management for adults and children with a wide variety of neurologic disorders. With locations in Buffalo and Williamsville, we offer a full range of procedural services including EEG, EMG, adult and child neuropsychologic testing, an infusion clinic for intravenous therapies and neuroimaging interpretation. We are closely allied to two Kaleida Health hospitals, Buffalo General Medical Center and Oishei Children's Hospital.

Position Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works within a UBMD Neurology outpatient clinic to help promote patient flow and perform tasks within the framework of nursing care. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, all clinical floor duties for providers and residents and facilitating efficient workflows throughout the clinic by maintaining excellent patient care and customer service under the supervision of the RN Nurse Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.
- Assist doctors and RNs (Registered Nurses) to perform tests, etc.
- Ordering of medications - Calling specialty pharmacies to schedule deliveries
- Receive and triage phone calls.
- Collect blood and urine samples and label them accurately.
- Preparing and administering medications for patients as directed by physicians & RNS. Administering injections of medications.
- Observing and recording patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatments
- Ensures that patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapy receive care that is appropriate for the therapy ordered as well as monitoring and evaluating the patient's response to the IV therapy.
- Administers Infusion therapy to patients and reports adverse reactions to the physician.
- Supplying patients with medication education
Other Functions:
- Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies, medicine and stock exam rooms with appropriate supplies
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner.
- Any other duties as requested or assigned by the RN Nurse Manager, provider and/or other management representative. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Graduate from an accredited LPN program; Associate’s degree preferred.
Experience/Qualifications: One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in nursing, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting. Currently licensed in New York State as a Licensed Practical Nurse. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Excellent clinical skills required. Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills required. EMR experience and triage/phone experience is helpful. High degree of flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands required.
**Pay commensurate with education and experience.
