Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society, including providing classroom and laboratory/shop instruction.

Plans, organizes and presents instruction and instructional environments, and helps students learn the subject matter and skills associated with construction that will contribute to their educational and social development for related industry-based certifications.
Education / Certification:
-
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred.
-
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned preferred and/or Trade and Industry experience preferred.

Professional/Trade Experience in General Construction.
Special Knowledge / Skills:

Knowledge of subjects/programs assigned.

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in a specific environment.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of industry related software.

Ability to align curriculum to industry certification exams.

Ability to market program to students, staff, parents, and community through Social Media and various platforms.

Experience:
Student teaching or approved internship (preferred).
Responsibilities:
-
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
-
Apply practical knowledge of skills instruction, with the specific purpose of preparing and inserting students into the workplace.
-
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
-
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
-
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
-
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
-
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula/instruction as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements
-
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
-
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
-
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
-
Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information regarding career choices, career preparations, job opportunities, and other needed occupational information.

Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.

Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Keep informed of and comply with laws as well as district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.

Serve as an advisor to a CTSO, and manage all activities related to the CTSO, including attending and supervising events, camps, and conventions.

Promote and work with the CTE Administrators at the campus to increase interest and enrollment in the program.
