Finishing Editor
The Finishing Editor’s primary role is to work with the production team and take the compelling stories created by our Storyline Editors to the final stages of delivery. They lay b-roll, apply effects and transitions, employ graphics packages, color correct, and manage exports. We’re looking for a candidate who is resourceful, using their creative eye to make use of every asset, and who finds ways to present and rearrange visuals for maximum effect.
The candidate must be self-motivated, well-organized, and communicative, with documented experience finishing high-quality digital media. Joo Kno Media is a virtual workspace via Slack, so a candidate with experience working in a remote team environment is preferable. We work in a variety of sectors, providing a diverse and challenging workflow for contractors to explore their creativity. Daily compensation commensurate with experience on recurring basis as projects are completed.
Since each project is unique and dynamic, the candidate will work with the team to determine their role for each project. Typical responsibilities and accountabilities usually include:
- Image Lock: take an edited project and bring out the story through imagery, improve the flow, and utilize visual assets to their full potential.
- Effects/Transitions: apply effects and transitions for style and impact.
- Graphics: strategize where and how to use custom-created and/or stock motion graphics.
- Color Correction: professional colorist skills applied to web and television projects, ideally using a 10-bit system with full color suite and hardware scopes.
- Exports: manage drafts for internal review, send AAF files for audio polish, and deliver spec-specific exports for client approval.
- Organization: operate within our workflow structure across multiple platforms to create collaborative project files with other team members.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience in post-production and color correction
- Facility with DaVinci or Lumetri and delivery with Adobe Premiere
- Understanding of professional corporate post-production pipeline
- Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and team mentality
- Ability to be flexible and deadline driven
- Ability to work virtually and stay focused
- Ability to understand and work within client brand guidelines, industry best practices, and internal company methods
