Summary: Reporting to the Site Director (SD) at the assigned location, the Youth Worker is responsible for assisting with designing and running programs, supporting outreach, and building supportive and friendly relationships with young people of multi-ethnic backgrounds. Assist in developing a working and cooperative relationship with existing resources, agencies and churches in the community. This role will also provide support to the Site Director as it relates to executing the mission of New Life of New York City, Inc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with Team to develop and implement daily programming
· Facilitate activities in the areas of Arts, Academics, Athletics, Spiritual Formation, Service
· Participate in camps, museums, amusement parks, etc.
· Contact/Street Work – Establish new contacts with teenagers by canvasing parks, schools, and local gathering spots
· Maintain strict confidentiality on all organization related matters
· Attend meetings set by the senior leadership as necessary
· Participate in daily strategy and debrief meetings with Site staff
· Contact parents/guardians to register and obtain permission for trips or events, and to invite families to scheduled events
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or GED equivalent, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Strong oral and written communications and interpersonal skills
· Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data management skills

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in a faith based after-school center environment.
Physical Demands
This is largely an active role. The role requires the ability to bend or stand as necessary and physically interact with the youth.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a Part-time, non-exempt position working up to 28 hours a week. The school year days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM. to 8:00 PM. The working hours during school breaks and the summer are 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm (unless another timeframe is established by the SD).
Travel
Some local day and overnight travel (camp, staff retreats, training etc.) as needed.
