Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and prevent challenging behaviors
- Support individuals in participating in community activities and social events
- Administer medications and document medication administration as required
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times
- Advocate for resident rights and promote independence and self-determination
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with assisting individuals with ADLs
- Understanding of person-centered care and individualized support plans
- Ability to lift and transfer residents using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license to transport residents to appointments or community outings
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
- Compassion, patience, and empathy when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of systems for documentation and reporting
