JSI’s International Division seeks an energetic, talented, entrepreneurial self-starter who’s captivated by new business development. The position is to be DC- or Boston-based and will work closely with the new business development core team as well as all international division staff members who support business development. JSI is looking for someone excited by the chance to provide input to division-wide new business development strategic priorities, support overall quality improvement and growth of the JSI NBD work, and advocate for and support NBD operations at JSI. S/he will be supervised by the Senior Global Development Advisor.
The preference is for this position to be based in Boston or Washington DC. We may also consider a fully remote position in states where JSI R&T is registered (AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WI).
The Senior Global Business Development Manager will coordinate and be engaged in a wide range of new business processes and opportunities within the division, to include the following tasks:
Capture and Proposal Development
- Lead cross-functional global teams to develop and submit high quality, responsive proposals to a range of USG and non-USG donors.
- Support proposal development in the following capacities (as relevant per skillset): advisory role (capture and proposal development), proposal manager, capture lead/coordinator, writer, capacity building support, and/or trainer support.

Lead and support capture phase activities including in-country information gathering, partnership strategy and cultivation, teaming and pre-teaming agreement negotiation, key personnel engagement and facilitation of design discussions between consortium and JSI experts.
Operations and Performance
- Support development and implementation of strategies to identify and cultivate new government, foundation and other funders.

Engage with NBD team, JSI leadership, and cross-functional teams to develop and maintain robust short-, medium-, and long-term pipeline of funding opportunities.

Undertake efforts to improve the NBD process at JSI including development and revision of new resources, tools, templates, and training materials.

Support cross-divisional staff training, including leading training sessions and orientations on JSI’s new business development processes and systems to build staff capacity.

Contribute to the management, upkeep and adaptation of new business development knowledge management platforms (including Salesforce, Google Drive, and Slack).

Lead internal post-submission debriefs to learn and improve processes and systems.

Work closely with the core NBD team members, the extended BD team members across the international division and World Education (WE) divisions, and corporate functions as needed to ensure standardized NBD operations.
Support Strategic Data Analysis
- Routinely analyze changes in donor trends and share/visualize data to support planning for strategic growth/direction of NBD resources.

Conduct data analyses using information from JSI’s knowledge management platform, JEMS and maintain database of JSI capabilities and past performance references.

Work closely with operations, finance, communications, and other related teams to synergize organizational BD efforts for greater efficiency, visibility, and collaboration.
- Master's degree and a minimum of 6 years’ experience working for an international development organization or Bachelor’s degree and 8 years’ experience.

A minimum of 4 years leading USG proposal responses.

Experience managing business development processes, including both capture and live phases of proposal development.

Proven track record of identifying, tracking, and winning bilateral, multilateral, and/or private sector solicitations.

Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.

Knowledge of international development, current trends and priorities, particularly in the field of global public health.

Experience successfully working with international/cross-cultural teams; experience working in non-U.S. settings preferred.

Knowledge of USAID, Gavi, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other international development funder programmatic priorities, business solicitation practices, rules and regulations.

Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Fluency in English, written and oral. Fluency in other languages preferred.

Experience working with Salesforce databases preferred.

Experience managing Google Workspaces preferred.

Willingness to travel internationally as necessary (~15-25%).
Salary Range: $94,774-$166,270, experience & location dependent
