Our company is a small but rapidly growing start-up that focuses on Next Generation Sequencing of all genomes from viruses to human for a wide range of clinical, research and industrial labs. We emphasize a low cost of service mixed with an industry-leading turnaround time and aim to provide a more personal version of customer service than is found with our competitors. Accordingly, a qualified applicant will exhibit both an attention to detail and proficiency with large sample volumes, as well as an ability to communicate our findings to customers that are often less experienced with sequencing data.
This position would be focused on the development of methods and applications for long read sequencing on both the Oxford Nanopore PromethION and PacBio Revio platforms, as well as providing oversight to existing Illumina-based pipelines. A qualified candidate will have previous experience in one or all of these technologies and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot through development issues from sample and library preparation to instrument operation to downstream analysis.
Responsibilities Include:
· Perform QC on incoming samples to include Qubit, qPCR and fragment analysis measurements
· Construct NGS libraries for the assigned pipeline, which may be whole genome, RNA, amplicon or SARS-CoV-2 and operation of related sequencing platform
· Train and mentor junior staff on sequencing technologies and analysis
· Basic bioinformatic analysis and QC of sample data
· Ensure accurate sample tracking logs from receipt to customer data distribution
· Communicate with customers regarding sample issues and/or project goals
Qualifications:
· PhD in Biology, Chemistry or related field
· Previous experience with long read sequencing and/or sequencing data analysis
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to handle, process and evaluate NGS samples
