The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Career Transition For Dancers (CTFD) Career Counselor to work within The Career Center to provide specialized individual and group career counseling services to support members of the dance community in navigating their careers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Career Center supports clients to develop new or supplemental income streams, as well as an entrepreneurial framework to their career management. The CTFD Career Counselor plays an important role in helping individuals in the performing arts and entertainment community to develop and maintain the career management skills necessary to address the uncertain nature of unemployment in the industry. This position supports dancer clients to explore their options, identify their next steps and access employment and educational opportunities through individual counseling and the facilitation of groups, workshops and panels. The CTFD Career Counselor will assist in researching, studying, testing and implementing best practices in empowering individuals in the performing arts and entertainment community to develop greater resiliency and economic stability. Additionally, this role collaborates with leadership on outreach strategy and develops relationships within the dance community to increase access to services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Career Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related field

Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in counseling adults

Background in dance and/or deep knowledge of dance communities

Skilled at verbal and written communication with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Potential weekend and/or evening hours
PREFERRED QUALITIES

Knowledge of the performing arts and entertainment community

Ability to provide bilingual career counseling services in English and Spanish

Familiarity with remote work and virtual platforms

Experience facilitating workshops, seminars and groups

Knowledge of career counseling practices and theories

Experience with community building and outreach strategy; able to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
ABOUT THIS POSITION
This is a full-time salaried or hourly position based in the Entertainment Community Fund’s National Headquarters Office in Times Square, New York City. COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with years of experience. The salary range for candidates with 0-5 years of experience is between $67,500 - $70,939. The salary range for candidates with more than 5 years of experience is between $71,826 - $73,632. Internships, volunteer work, and gaps in employment will not be counted towards years of experience.
