A business services commercial technician provides technical data/voice communications and network infrastructure field support for our client community in a variety of commercial environments. Working with network operations or deployment engineers as the “smart hands” in the field, the position requires above average oral and written communications skills and may be assigned all other tasks as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Ability to work independently. Knowledge of:
- Computers and understanding of industry standard computer-based utilities – including but not limited to: PuTTy, DOS Commands, Network Interface Config., DHCP/Static IP.
- Customer service principles;
- Networking infrastructures;
Responsibilities:
Install, Terminate, and Test UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cabling as per work order
Install, Service, and Trouble-shoot modems, routers, switches, ATAs (Advanced Technology Attachments), and access points as per work order.
Ensure all work is done according to quality standards (EIA [Electronic Industries Alliance]/TIA [Telecommunications Industry Association] 568B requirements, prevailing industry standards and installation criteria established by the client/end-user).
Responsible for completing job associated paperwork electronically as operationally defined
Assist with work overflow, as needed.
Report to the Director of Operations according to company procedures.
Work with Project Manager and/or Lead Technicians to complete inspections, inventories, and shipping of returned equipment.
Follow all company policy and procedures.
Adhere to safety policy.
Drive Company vehicle
Communicate job completions and activity status with division staff members.
Successfully completing assigned technical, professional and safety coursework with a passing score is a requirement of this position. Coursework can include reading assignments, ITG internal training, OSHA or other professional development as division needs evolve
Manage Time Effectively and meet scheduled timeframes.
