The basic function of the CAD Drafter is to prepare clear, complete, and accurate HVAC and plumbing shop drawings from blue prints and/or other drawings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepares fully dimension-ed plumbing and air conditioning equipment layouts, floor, wall and roof opening locations, structural supports, sleeving, and fabrication shop drawings.
Reads and interprets contact plans and specifications. Checks contract drawings to avoid interference with architectural, structural, other mechanical and electrical features.
Checks submittal data and verifies workability of components into a project. Brings all discrepancies to the attention of the Project Manager for clarification.
May assist the Project Manager and attend meetings as necessary with architect, engineer, general contractor, and owner to resolve conflicts and coordinate designs with other trades.
Completes shop drawings in time to support project submittal and contract schedules.
Incorporates field marked-up shop drawings into a complete as-built drawing record.
Education and Experience: Associates' degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school in an Architectural Drafting Technology (ADT) program or Architectural Engineering CAD (AEC) program. Certifications of AutoCAD and Revit training will also be acceptable.
For entry level position, at least one year related experience.
For higher level CAD Drafter, two to five years related experience and/or training in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing areas.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Able to read and interpret contract plans and specifications.
Requires working knowledge of HVAC systems such as air handlers, chillers, cooling towers, chilled water and refrigerant piping sheet metal duct systems such as breakdown, SMACNA Standards, pertinent NFPA codes, plumbing systems/equipment, and plumbing codes.
Able to use AutoCAD Release 2010 program and newer including the ability to plot file management, paper space, xrefs, and scale factors. Revit and Navisworks capabilities are a plus.
Must be able to use Microsoft Windows, Outook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu.
Able to deal with unexpected situations and meet critical deadlines.
