Responsibilities:
- Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of patients' mental health, including evaluating their psychological, emotional, and behavioral status.
- Medication Management: Administering psychiatric medications as prescribed by physicians and monitoring their effects on patients, including observing for any side effects or adverse reactions.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Implementing therapeutic interventions such as individual or group therapy sessions, psychoeducation, and behavior modification techniques to promote patients' mental wellness and recovery.
- Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate assistance and support during psychiatric crises or emergencies, including de-escalating potentially volatile situations and ensuring patient safety.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
- Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and resources available for ongoing support and assistance.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, progress, and any significant changes in their mental health status, in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
- Advocacy: Advocating for patients' needs and rights, ensuring that they receive appropriate care, support, and access to resources to facilitate their recovery and rehabilitation.
- Safety Measures: Implementing safety measures and protocols to prevent self-harm, aggression, or harm to others, including suicide risk assessments and implementing appropriate precautions as needed.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree/ Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)/Diploma
Licenses and Certifications
- Current RN License in the state of Tennessee
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification approved by AHA
Vaccine status
- COVID vaccination is required, and candidates must have received a flu shot within the past six months or be willing to take one upon accepting the position.
