We are seeking a Structural/Civil Inspector to join our Hilo, HI team. As an Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of projects. Your attention to detail, ability to analyze data, and knowledge of engineering and construction standards will contribute to the successful completion of projects. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Review technical drawings and other engineering data; ensure structures are built according to specifications.
- Review existing bridge plans and prior inspection reports.
- Conduct special inspections for concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, welding, concrete masonry, and seismic requirements.
- Conduct on-site NBI bridge inspections and element-level bridge inspections under the supervision of a Team Leader.
- Prepare special inspection reports for submittal to Contractors, Owners, and County Agencies.
- Prepare bridge inspection reports describing the condition of the elements inspected, including recommendations and cost estimates.
- Input required data into FHWA/HDOT AASHTOWare Bridge Management (BrM) software website.
- Perform calculations as well as operate various software related to the design.
- Setup drawing files and architectural backgrounds to company standards.
- Reviews regulations and standards necessary to carry out project design and permitting work.
- Assists design team in preparation of reports, plans, and other submittals.
- Obtain project information from other disciplines and incorporate into projects.
- Conduct site visits and investigations, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
- Performs other position-related duties and assignments as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment
- Self-motivated and willing to spend time to learn
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction inspection or a related field is preferred
- Bridge and/or Structural inspection experience
- ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade I
- Non-destructive testing for welds, i.e. ultrasound, dye penetration, magnetic particle.
- Civil inspection experience (fire flow, IWS, etc.)
- Familiar with Federal, State of Hawaii, and County of Hawaii Standards
