We are looking to add a Quality Assurance Supervisor to support plant operations. Our Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor will provide guidance, coach, and train our technicians to ensure that they deliver maximum quality in a profitable manner while upholding quality control standards. Your duties will include monitoring employees٫ organizing workflows, analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing processes, performing product testing, ensuring standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved, and ensuring our inbound and outbound products meet all quality control and safety standards.
We expect you to be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.
Position Summary: Supervises and supports QA employees in a manufacturing environment. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Candidate will assist the Department Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, and performance management
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas
- Work with Production Managers, Supervisors and Leads to monitor and document the food safety and food quality of raw and finished products; report any deviation from quality of service that may become a potential liability
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, i.e. personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance and upkeep
- Establish daily٫ weekly and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees
- Provide team-based training on food quality and food safety during meetings, specific training classes, monthly training, etc
- Manages departmental performance measures and provides regular progress reports to manager
- Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution
- Tracks absenteeism and time-keeping
- Perform QA testing during the course of production
- Monitor timeliness and completeness of QA procedures and documentation, i.e., equipment line cleans, Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) duties, Critical Control Point/Control Point (CCP/CP) procedures, etc.
- Ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate and done in a timely manner; ensure the documentation complies with company food safety and food quality standards
- Become proficient in areas of production and safety policies and procedures (accident/injury reporting, blood-borne pathogens, confined spaces, emergency evacuation, equipment operation/maintenance, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, etc. as appropriate
- Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, and report potentially unsafe conditions
- Provide proper documents and control samples to shift leaders and operators as needed for production
Essential Skills and Experience:
- One to two years of experience in production, facility quality control is highly desirable
- Previous supervisory experience in a USDA and/or FDA food manufacturing/processing environment is strongly desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, or food science is desirable
- Candidate must be able to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities.

Working Conditions:
- Individual may be exposed to wet, cold or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, work in extreme temperatures (non-weather), work in high noise levels and vibration
- Individual may also be periodically working around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions
- Individual will continually be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, to talk and hear, and to utilize vision including but not limited to close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and ability to distinguish colors
- Individual may need to stand, sit, kneel, or crouch, using proper ergonomic principles.
- Potentially lift up to 45 pounds utilizing safe and proper lift techniques and equipment
- All personal protective equipment furnished must be worn by all employees when required or needed to perform proper and safe working conditions
