POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and management of major public infrastructure projects in the Los Angeles area. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer with expertise in drainage systems to join our team for various airfield and terminal projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction and quality control of drainage systems for the airfield and terminal facilities. This position requires a strong background in civil engineering, with specific expertise in drainage design, hydrological analysis, and construction management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Provide input on planning and develop detailed schedules for drainage-specific tasks, ensuring integration with the overall project plan.
- Budget Management: Contribute to cost estimation and monitor expenditures related to drainage infrastructure.
- Risk Management: Identify potential drainage-related risks and develop mitigation strategies, implementing contingency plans as needed.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a technical expert during stakeholder meetings, providing updates and addressing concerns related to drainage systems.
- Quality Assurance: Establish quality control standards for drainage work, conduct regular inspections, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Contract Administration: Assist in preparing technical specifications for drainage contracts and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Site Supervision: Oversee on-site installation and construction of drainage systems, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications.
- Coordination and Logistics: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and manage logistics for drainage materials and equipment.
- Change Management: Evaluate proposed changes to drainage designs and oversee the implementation of approved changes.
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct necessary testing of drainage systems to ensure functionality and compliance with performance criteria.
- Commissioning and Handover: Oversee the commissioning of drainage systems and provide as-built documentation and training to LAWA personnel.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work collaboratively with HDR’s PM/CM team, contributing expertise to achieve project goals and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Technology and Innovation: Utilize advanced modeling and design tools and implement innovative drainage solutions.
- Sustainability and Environmental Compliance: Incorporate sustainable drainage practices and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in drainage design and construction management.
- Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic analysis software.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and environmental standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment..
Primary Location: Los Angeles / El Segundo, CA
Local Los Angeles County / Orange County candidates preferred.
