The Special Education Teacher will provide direct instructional, evaluative, and supervisory services to all students to ensure the quality of classroom programs at the Pathfinder Village School in accordance with the Pathfinder Village mission “that each life may find meaning.” The teacher will identify strengths and needs that will lead to a comprehensive individualized education program and promote independence, inclusion, individuality, productivity, and self-determination for students.
Responsibilities include:
- Plans a psycho-educational model of programs for each student; this includes the setting of objectives and goals, which reflect the student’s educational, emotional, and behavioral strengths and needs
- Administers tests, writes reports, and completes all required documentation on a timely and accurate basis.
- Formally reports to parents and home school districts, the child’s progress on an ongoing basis.
- Supervises teacher assistants/aides who are responsible to him/her in assisting in the education of all students.
- Responsible for the delivery of the students’ IEPs and all related services, goals and objectives listed on the IEP.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in special education
- Certification as a special education teacher from NYSED
- Valid NYS driver's license
Annual salary starts at $50,000 and is commensurate with experience.
