POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the CBO Collections Supervisor, the CBO Collections Specialist is responsible for assisting hospitals with maximizing collections and minimizing outstanding accounts receivable aging percentages by performing collection functions. The CBO Collections Specialist is also responsible for monitoring outstanding accounts receivable, communicating with insurance carriers regarding unpaid claims, evaluating EOB’s for denials as well as filing appeals to insurance payors. As based on their assigned area this may include but is not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance carriers, Third Party Liability payors or Attorneys.

Work Environment:
- Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
- Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
- Category 3 - Jobs in which required tasks involve no greater exposure to blood, body fluids, or
tissues than would be encountered by a visitor. The normal work routine involves no exposure
to blood, body fluids or tissues and the worker can decline to perform tasks without retribution.
Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Some college preferred.
Experience:
- Knowledge of third party payor policies and procedures preferred.
- Experience with insurance Explanation of Benefits preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- High degree of computer skills.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to ten pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including ones self. Primarily involves sitting most of the time, but will require walking or standing for brief periods of time. Talking and hearing with the ability to communicate by means of language. Near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required. Ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.
