We are an AAHA accredited animal hospital in Wesley Chapel, NC practicing state of the art medicine within an intimate, family atmosphere. Emphasis on patient care, client education, innovative thinking and team approach. We are looking for a hard working assistant to join our professional, friendly, positive, energetic, low drama team. This is not an entry level position. Candidate must have a minimum of one year experience as a veterinary assistant in an animal hospital.

Position Summary: Primarily responsible for providing effective assistance to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in all aspects of patient care and client service including but not limited to restraining animals, bathing animals, venipuncture, and cleaning.
Qualifications Required: High School diploma or its equivalent
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Greet clients, obtain vital statistics from patients, obtain historical information and medical background of patients from clients Effectively communicate treatment plan, preventative services recommended, products offered, and cost of said services and products to clients Effectively restrain animals for veterinarians to examine and perform procedures Obtain blood, stool, urine and bodily excretions from patients and demonstrate proper handling of specimens Cleaning up and Disposal of animal eliminations and animal remains Administration of oral and injectable medications Effectively utilize in house laboratory equipment Extensive cleaning of hospital and equipment demonstrating appropriate disinfecting techniques Answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and answering basic medical questions Bathing animals and performing simple grooming procedures including but not limited to nail trims, anal gland expression, sanitary clips, and lion cuts Inputting services provided and products obtained into invoices Proper handling, cleaning and maintenance of hospital equipment including but not limited to surgical instruments
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Computer proficiency with Microsoft word and excel Perform other related duties as assigned
