How Secondary Academic Advising Works
At Oregon Tech, students have both a Faculty Advisor in each program and a secondary Academic Advisor within the Office of Academic Advising & Retention.
The Faculty Advisor is there to talk to students about their field of study, course content, and give final approval on the courses they plan to take each term.
Secondary Academic Advisors are in place to help students connect with their Faculty Advisor, provide general advising, and to facilitate campus resources effectively. Advisors serve as a best contact for understanding school policies and procedures, managing logistical issues, as well as answering general questions about how to navigate the university.
