The incumbent shall serve as a Research Coordinator (Clinical) for the Research Service Line. The incumbent will provide assistance in the overall management of selected projects of the Houston Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) to the Principal Investigator and all members of its consortium group. The research program is multi-institutional and diverse with scientists from various specialty backgrounds.
Duties include:
- Implementing and administering systems and mechanisms to identify required study groups.
- Implementing and administering check systems to avoid loss of entry of eligible information.
- Coordinating with clinicians caring for the patients to collect complete data sets when required.
- Coordinating with project personnel for the design and implementation of required computer programs.
- Developing and administering accuracy and validity checks of data collected.
- Coordinate the scheduling of study patients when necessitated by the protocols.
- Sort and collate patient database variables, as well as input any clinical test data.
- Deal with necessary data to prevent threats to experimental validity, data quality control and reporting any potential violations of confidentiality to the Director.
- Analyze the study data under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Design and develop presentation materials and present study information at various health services research seminars and committee meetings.
- Assist other health services investigators and ancillary staff related to administrative matters.
Position Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor Degree in a “Science” related field.
- Required: One year of related clinical research assistant experience.
- Subject to a background/suitability investigation.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate effectively.
- Must have strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe Professional and PowerPoint).
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Pay: $49,730.00 - $60,830.00 per year
