Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced State and Local Tax Manager to join our team. As a State and Local Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of state and local tax compliance and planning for our organization. This is a critical role that requires strong technical expertise in tax regulations and the ability to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement state and local tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Prepare and review state and local tax returns, including sales tax, property tax, and income/franchise tax
- Conduct research on state and local tax issues, stay updated on changes in tax laws, and provide guidance to the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential tax savings opportunities and support business initiatives
- Assist with audits, inquiries, and notices from state and local taxing authorities
- Provide guidance on state and local tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions
- Perform financial report interpretation related to state and local taxes
- Conduct account reconciliation and analysis for state and local tax accounts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in state and local taxation, preferably in public accounting or a corporate tax department
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is highly desirable
- Proficient in account reconciliation, account analysis, and financial report interpretation
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external advisors, and taxing authorities
- Experience with sales tax compliance is a plus.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,419.98 per year
