Queen City Nerve (qcnerve.com), Charlotte’s vital source for news and coverage of arts and entertainment, seeks a Digital Marketing Specialist.
This role is critical to the advancement of the Queen City Nerve digital platforms and connecting with target audiences, driving engagement and achieving business objectives through digital means.
This person will contribute to the marketing efforts of the business through digital marketing strategies including paid and organic social media lead generation, Google Ads management, UX optimization, email platform management, membership CTA’s and engagement, operating a monthly marketing budget and building strategic partnerships throughout the community.
This person will build metric reports to be reviewed with the executive team on a monthly basis.
This role requires someone who is extremely organized, excited about working for a journalism enterprise, has a passion for digital and social media tools, and has a collaborative spirit. You’ll report to the publisher and work directly with the editorial and design departments at Queen City Nerve.
Job Duties:
- Build long term and short term strategic marketing plans
- Create marketing content: Writing engaging value statements and emails to Nerve consumers.
- Social media: Using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Threads, LinkedIn and TikTok to create strategies, run ad campaigns, and attract followers and sign ups to our email newsletters.
- Search engines: Using search engine optimization (SEO) to improve branded content in search results and perform keyword research to assist in planning for editorial content, and search engine marketing (SEM) to buy ad space on search result pages.
- Website optimization: Analyzing digital data to make recommendations for improving websites.
- Brand consistency: Ensuring that the brand message is consistent across all platforms.
- Tracking success: Monitoring key online marketing metrics to measure the success of campaigns
- Email: Work with our email platform provider on ensuring all reporting metrics are accurate and run A/B testing on fundraising and content campaigns for best possible outcomes.
- Memberships: Utilize our platforms and content to engage new readers at the top of the funnel and work them down to becoming newsletter subscribers and paid members. Will work to find new ways to engage paid members to add value to their membership through in-person events and exclusive content offerings.
- Partnerships: Head up new efforts to partner with community organizations and deepen connection with the community on a personal level through in-person events and creative content strategies.

This position is a full-time hybrid position. The employee will be expected to be in-office on certain days of the week, but not all days.
Pay rate: $30,000 annually + Quarterly commission structure based on targeted digital revenue growth gained from implemented strategies
