Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Coach/Defensive Line Coach is responsible
for all administrative and organizational aspects of the Defensive Line and Boundary Outside LB in the techniques and assignment needed to effectively defend the run and rush the passer.
The Assistant Football Coach will support the Head Football Coach in the duties of successfully operating NCA&T’s defensive football program, including but not limited to coordination of defensive schemes/personnel/staff, recruiting student-athletes, planning practice sessions/game preparation/game-day coaching, monitoring the student-athletes academically and managing game day responsibilities.
The Assistant Coach must operate within the guidelines of an NCAA Division I football program and within the mission of the University and its philosophy of intercollegiate athletics.
The Assistant Coach will guide and actively encourage student-athletes to succeed academically, acquire a degree and represent the University with the highest integrity.
The Assistant Coach is also responsible for supporting and executing the development and administration of offensive game plans and the materials necessary to execute them, the recruitment of student-athletes, adhering to NCAA, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), and University regulations with regard to recruiting, admission standards and eligibility, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, and assisting in the establishment of effective media relations.
The Assistant Coach, as assigned by the Head Football Coach, will assist in fundraising activities and serve as a representative of the University to the outside community when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 3-5 years of collegiate coaching and recruiting experience required. Experience playing or coaching the at the high school or collegiate level. Working knowledge of Division I, NCAA, CAA, and University rules and regulations.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Demonstrated expertise in coaching football, specifically coaching defensive positions positions; minimum of 5 years coaching experience at the collegiate level. Ability to work in concert with Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches to lead and motivate student-athletes. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. A working knowledge of Big South, CAA, & NCAA rules and regulations.
