Position Summary:
Looking for an experienced Flat Rolled Steel Sales Representative with deep knowledge of secondary steel material based in the Detroit, MI area. The Sales Representative is responsible for ensuring the effective management of customer relationships and for purchasing steel from the Canadian mills and selling to USA based customers. This includes ensuring that all profitability targets and recommended margin levels as outlined by the Company are realized; understand, promote, and believe in the Company’s commitment of being a service and quality organization; maintain and continue to seek ways to improve overall service quality.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for fielding incoming customer phone calls.
- Receive inquiries and provide prices via phone or email and process accordingly in a timely manner.
- Liaison with the mills and shipping department on lead times for all orders.
- Purchasing experience with mills in the USA
- Actively pursue sales with existing and new accounts
- Keep accurate records of quotes and other pertinent information for regular customers.
- Work closely with other Sales Representatives regarding quotes, requirements, order entry; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Intermediate – Experience Level
- Customer service oriented with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, time management and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.
- Has built a portfolio of Steel contacts and has reliable customers readily available.
- Experience with US Steel Mill contact and ability to purchase in the USA is an asset.
- Effectively deal with stressful situations in a calm professional manner.
- Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.
