We have fantastic opportunities for ICU nurses day/ night shifts to join our team in our recently renovated ICU department.
Job Duties include:
- Provides for safety in the coordination and delivery of care.
- Consistently communicates with patients by listening attentively and providing feedback to ensure that all needs are met in a timely manner.
- Keeps patients pain well controlled.
- Assess and reassesses patients' status, initiating and resolving patient goals.
- Treating patients accurately and safely according to unit specific parameters and best practices.
- Provides for patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
- Performs hourly rounds.
- Answers call lights or requests from patients in a timely and courteous manner.
- Utilizes hand-off communication in all interdisciplinary reporting.
- Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
- Is aware of ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals to ethics committee.
- Identifies and immediately reports any hazardous situations to management.
- Actively participates to improve and maintain patient satisfaction scores.
- Participates in and positively influences quality improvement initiatives.
- Fosters cooperative relationships and positive work environment with other departments through courtesy, respect and effective communication.
- Responds in a professional and timely manner to requests for information from co-workers.
- Participates in patient flow initiatives by facilitating transfers and discharges in a timely manner.
- Strives to exceed expectations of all patients and families.
Education and Requirements:
- 1-3 yrs of prior experience as an ICU Nurse with critical care experience.
- New York State Nursing License.
- BLS and ACLS
- Associate's degree required.
- BSN degree preferred.
- Infection control training certification in specialty preferred
- Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems
