JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for managing the clinical department; ensuring that all patient testing is appropriately scheduled, performed and documented; overseeing the informed consent process and internal patient education; directing the Quality Assurance and Disease Entity Management programs for the practice; and performing quarterly chart audits and communicating recommendations for change.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma.
2. Minimum of two years’ experience in a medical office, preferably an ophthalmology office preferred.
3. Completion of medical terminology and/or ophthalmic terminology courses preferred.
4. Leadership Experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management of Technicians
Hires, performs orientation, and provides disciplinary action of clinical staff.
Reviews testing procedures, test scheduling and documentation.
Provides or arranges for ongoing training for clinical staff.
Provides or arranges for competency testing of clinical staff.
Maintains quarterly continuing education program.
Ensures scheduling and performance of proper maintenance and calibration of all ophthalmic equipment.
Develops daily/weekly work schedules for the clinical staff.
Assist Physician’s with needs to ensure proper patient care.
Quality Assurance
Implements internal chart review program.
Provides continuing education resources to those that fall outside practice standards.
Implements and manages quality control including but not limited to:
- Medical waste management
- Assert testing of all autoclaves
- Medical refrigeration
Documents utilization/outcome statistics.
Oversees continuous process improvement program.
Initiates and maintains disaster protocols.
Administrative
Troubleshoots any problems that arise.
Mediates any disputes among clinical employees.
Attends monthly management meetings.
Provides support to practice administrator in his or her absence.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
