Job Summary:
The LPN functions under the supervision and guidance of Nursing leadership or Physician. The LPN participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment for patients and provides clinical support and technical assistance to the professional medical and other staff. The LPN is responsible for functioning within the scope of all federal and state regulatory guidance. Individual must be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy. Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients and their families, other staff, physicians, vendors, and the public. They are to abide by and support hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the delivery of quality patient care by assisting in the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Assists in the assessment of the physical, psychological, and social needs of the patient.

Assess and documents changes in patient status, notifying charge nurse and provider when appropriate.

Assists in the development of a plan of care for each patient, utilizing nurse diagnosis as the basis for goal setting. Goals being the solutions to specific problems requiring nursing intervention.

Explains the plan of care to patients and families.

Requirements:
Education: Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse License
Experience: Minimum of 1 year medical/surgical experience. (5 years medical/surgical experience preferred.)
Knowledge: Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs. Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk. Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
Skills: BLS and ACLS certifications. BLS required before first date of employment. ACLS required within three months of hire. PALS Certification is optional. IV Certification required before first date of employment. Intermediate computer skills required with understanding of Electronic Medical Charting (EMR).
