We are a nationwide chimney sweep and dryer vent services provider tailored specifically for the multi-family industry. We recently launched our fire sprinkler system inspection division specializing in multi-family properties. We are looking for the right talented fire sprinkler inspectors and fire extinguisher technicians who can help us perform mandatory NFPA 25 inspections for our existing dryer vent and chimney customer base. Through aggressive marketing to our existing customers, our expectation for this position includes managing a team in the near future, which would be required to service forecast demand.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspection of fire sprinkler and fire suppression systems from the ground level, checking the necessary components.
- A very good understanding of NFPA 25.
- Licensed in the state of Georgia or ability to be licensed in the state of Georgia.
- Perform inspection of wet, dry, pre-action deluge and foam systems.
- Trip, observe and reset dry valves, read gauges and record information, noting deficiencies and ensuring pressures are within acceptable levels.
- Execute water flow testing, exercise, turn and lubricate fire sprinkler system valves and run main drain tests on all risers.
- Verify proper communication with monitoring station when working on a monitored system.
- Complete system tests to verify fire sprinkler system devices are working properly.
- Finalize inspection reports and communicate findings and reports to our customers and/ or AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction)
- Discuss deficiencies noted with customer, explaining the failed scenarios and their resolutions.
- Position will require some out-of-town stays in the state of Georgia, depending on distance from employee’s residence and when it makes more sense to stay out of town. Also, as we expand into other states (TX), some travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- NICET Level II in inspection and testing of fire sprinkler inspection or 2 years of equivalent experience of proven success in performance of fire sprinkler inspection preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand drawings used for installation of fire sprinkler systems is a plus, but not a must.
- Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must be able to inspect and service all fire sprinkler systems.
- Ability to inspect and test all types of fire pumps, including diesel and electric motors.
- Experience inspecting and testing foam systems preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications: (Preferred but we can have you trained on backflows)
- Backflow certification
- NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Must be able to push and pull items greater than 40 pounds, as needed.
- Ability to safely use and climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 24 feet.
- Ability to work comfortably on a regular basis, at a height greater than 26 feet.
- Constant walking, standing, carrying/handling objects, climbing ladders and eye/hand/foot coordination.
