The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Technology Services Division/Network Security Unit.
DPHHS’ Network Security Unit (NSU) utilizes various identity and access management tools to provision users for our Department’s various systems. NSU supports over 7,000 users and approximately 180 different applications.
This Computer Security Specialist position in NSU is directly responsible for keeping systems safe and ensuring employees and non-employees have the necessary computer access to effectively execute their duties. The position researches and validates access requests while weighing the business needs of the organization and ensuring proper security controls are followed and that the access granted is appropriate for the job being performed. This position helps train other staff and writes procedural documentation including system access templates. The position supports external and internal audit efforts, develops and tests identity and access management tools, and records accurate user account information. This position reports to the NSU Supervisor and does not supervise other staff.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
- Experience with IT Security processes, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge and skill in network administration including skill with Microsoft Active Directory.
- Ability to understand technical requirements related to operating systems, networks, applications, and identity management software.
- Knowledge and skill with identity management systems including user provisioning and role-based authentication.
- Ability to research, investigate, and analyze findings.
- Ability to provide effective and professional customer service.
- Ability to use Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office Products with emphasis on using spreadsheets (Excel) and report generation.
- Good verbal, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
Preferred:
- Thorough understanding of identity management, user provisioning, managed access and issues surrounding authentication and authorization.
- Working knowledge of enterprise architecture principles including role-based access management including database structure, directory structure, and application management.
- Understanding of security methods and technical elements to protect data. Knowledge of Federal and State standards relating to security.
- Meet minimum qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
o Two years of directly related experience in computer support including identity management and user provisioning experience.
o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information
This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
Salary: $ 33.32 - 33.32 Hourly
