Summer Extended School Year (ESY) staff will support one of these locations: Liberty Elementary School, Kenyon Woods Middle School or Bartlett High School.
- Two days of professional development are required for summer school. Those dates are June 3, 2024 and June 4, 2024.
- Summer School begins on June 5 and ends July 3. Summer school occurs Monday through Thursday with no school on June 19, 2024 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.
- Summer staff is expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes.
- Staff hours: 7:45 am - 11:45 am
- Student school day: 8:00 am - 11:30 am
- ETA members will be paid the Instructional Rate

Function / Position Summary
To support the program in providing a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests and needs of the IEP’d students. To support the classroom teacher in the program she/he has created for the students. To adhere to published policies and procedures distributed by the district and school.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assisting students with assignments where required
- Supervising independent or small group work
- Serve as a reference person to the students
- Working with mainstreamed and/or special education students on assignments
- Giving tests under the direction of the teacher
- Reinforcing appropriate behavior in line with teachers’ strategies
- Checking students’ completed tasks and assignment sheets when applicable
- Helping build students’ self-esteem
- Maintaining order in assigned areas in a fair and just manner
- Respecting the rights of students/parents/school
- Handling information in a confidential manner
- Observing students in the mainstream and/or special education environment
- Reporting information to the teacher
- Support and maintain classroom rules and procedures
- Other duties as assigned within parameters outlined in collective bargaining agreement
Education
- Successful completion of a minimum of 30 semester college hours or an Illinois passing score on Praxis exam
Experience / Knowledge
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred

- Ability to work in a fast paced and busy environment.
