CVR LEVEL III Valve Technician
A Relief Valve Technician for Cincy VR and Repair, LLC (CVRR) has the responsibility to repair, test, recondition, or modify a relief valve or safety per American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBIC), and American Petroleum Institute (API) codes as well as manufacturers specifications.
Qualifications / Physical Capabilities
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and approved by CVRR insurance.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Meets all Pressure Relief Valve Technician I & II qualifications and requirements.
- Proficient in Pressure Relief Valve Technician I & II responsibilities
Computer Skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Take digital pictures and electronically transfer them into SAMS tracking software.
- Perform data entry in the electronic valve tracking system (SAMS) including status updates and history searches.
- Some knowledge of QuickBooks
Job Details
- Read, interpret, and respond accordingly to MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) information.
- Identify valves and accessories.
- Mark parts correctly and maintain organization and segregation
- Perform glass bead / steel shot blasting while understanding what can/cannot be blasted
- Evaluate parts and maintain material awareness including:
- Perform inspection of parts and evaluate critical dimension requirements.
- Identify and utilize manufacturers’ nomenclature (i.e., literature including IOM, inspection criteria, part numbers, and model numbers)
- Complete travelers including date, sign-off, status, etc. in a timely manner.
- Understand and apply ASME, NBIC and API codes.
- Comply with CVRR’s Quality Control Manual.
- Teach/mentor apprentice-level VR technicians.
- Working knowledge and proficiency of leading manufacturer safety/pressure relief and pilot operated pressure relief valve lines
- Proficient in use of lathe in order to perform basic machining on nozzles, discs, and spring washers
