PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Licensed Creative Arts Therapist participates in and/or performs functions related to assessment, clinical counseling, diagnostics, treatment, care planning, rehabilitation, interventions, and supportive services for patients in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Outpatient Services. Conducts individual and group treatment; assessments; psychosocial, and social functioning aspects of the individuals identified issues and strengths using person centered approaches. The goal is to empower individuals to identify goals and appropriate interventions to help individuals achieve the highest level of rehabilitation and functioning.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions as the primary counselor with a caseload. Conducts new admission assessments; provide initial orientation to newly admitted patients, maintain caseload of patients and tracks individual progress for individualized recovery goals, and other activities (ex. vocational and educational goals) geared towards self-efficacy.
- Provides individual, group, and family counseling for a caseload of clients.
- Provides education for patients and families on Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services.
- Provides crisis intervention and support when necessary and appropriate.
- Develops comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
- Provides information, referral and linkage services to individuals and their families
- Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Works well as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Prepares patients for discharge by developing appropriate community linkages for care continuum
- Adheres to group schedule using creative arts therapy to engage patients in group treatment.
- Provides other functions as required by the program as assigned by the supervisor and program director
- Demonstrates an awareness of the organization patient safety plan
- Participates in unit performance improvement activities.
- Collects, tracks, monitors and analyzes data; completes and submits OASAS and other regulatory agency reports and surveys.
- Shows initiative in developing and participating in community activities, outreach, and educational
seminars. Participate in tier reviews, survey readiness activities, case conferences and other patient seminars related to SUD and Rehabilitation Services.
- Provides in-service training and consultation to the treatment program staff in Creative Arts
Therapies (CAT) principles and practices to help ensure coordination and integration of CAT services.

- Participates in peer supervision and mentoring programs meant to ensure staff competencies.
- Encourage internship partnership with college and universities
- Other duties as assigned or needed by the program.
