We are seeking a highly motivated research technician to join a biomedical research lab located in the Texas Medical Center. Candidates who wants to further their career in academia or medicine are encouraged to apply.
We use mouse models to study how blood-forming stem cells are maintained throughout life and how they go awry in cancer. Applicants with biomedical research and lab experience are preferred, but not required.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage a multi-line mouse colony. Includes breeding, culling, PCR genotyping mice and maintaining database.
- Perform dissection of tissue in adult and embryonic mice.
- Perform cell culture experiments with cell lines and primary cells.
- Perform molecular biology experiments, including western blotting, quantitative PCR, cloning plasmids, and flow cytometry.
- Contribute to lab organizational matters such as ordering supplies, maintaining stocks and overseeing equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related.
- Highly motivated.
- Knowledge of basic genetic concepts.
- Strong communication, organization and record keeping skills.
- Must be a team player able to interact effectively with colleagues and work independently with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training in animal husbandry and PCR genotyping.
- Experience in molecular biology such as western blot and flow cytometry.
- Training in basic DNA manipulation such as restriction digest, ligation, and mini- and maxi-prep.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
