- Greet customers verbally with an enthusiastic demeanor, smiling and making eye contact.
- Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately.
- Call for back-up as needed so that customers wait as little as possible to be checked out.
- Bag customer purchases as needed and ask customers if they need assistance. For those needing assistance, carry out groceries or call for staff help if available.
- Become familiar with co-op policies to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to Manager on Duty or other appropriate staff.
- Open and close out registers following established procedures. Balance cash drawer at end of shift.
- Explain membership program. Receive membership applications and equity payments.
- Issue credits to customers for returned items.
- Label and stock items.
- Maintain checking area and front end in clean, orderly condition.
- Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service at all times.
- Put stuffers in bags; inform customers of specials, membership meetings or other upcoming events.
- Maintain familiarity with monthly specials and promotions.
- Learn about and be familiar with other departments.
- Perform other tasks assigned by General and Store Managers.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds and stand for long periods.
- Willingness and ability to grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
