Position Summary
Under general supervision for routine scheduled tasks and direct supervision for more complex tasks, assists others in the Mail and Receiving areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the receiving point for the University for deliveries of supplies, material and equipment. Perform all clerical duties related to receipt and disposition of deliveries. Report the receipt of deliveries immediately to the purchasing office and the affected office. Verify completeness of shipments and condition of goods received. Report shortages, damaged or returned merchandise to purchasing office immediately or supervisor. Record all goods received. Prepare goods for shipment and keep record (method of wrappiing, shipment, etc.). Responsible for the security of all deliveries received to the point of delivery to the appropriate department. Record weight and shipping charges. Operate fork lift or front end loader. Save and store boxes to be used for future shipping. Place copies of receiving reports in the mail upon receipt of material. Look out for invoices that don’t match up against the purchase orders, or items marked “back order” or “out-of-stock.” Insure all delivered goods are removed from the receiving dock as quickly as possible. Sort mail when returned. Deliver mail and parcels. Assistance with snow removal at all campuses. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year experience in shipping and receiving.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work in fast-paced environment necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Physical Requirements
Physical hazards are possible while working from trucks or using receiving related equipment. The physical ability to lift heavy to moderately heavy boxes.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid Michigan Driver’s license.
Salary/Pay Information
$25.26/HR
Anticipated Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
