- Bachelors of Science in Nursing
- Registered Nurse License in California
- BLS - Basic Life Support
Experience
- 2+ years working as an RN
- School Nurse Services Credential

- Knowledge in specialty area of practice
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in assigned work area

Job Summary:
Responsibilities of the District School Nurse: Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, the District School Nurse oversees a comprehensive health education and services program. This program aims to safeguard, maintain, and improve student health. Additionally, the school nurse proactively identifies and addresses health-related obstacles that could hinder students’ learning capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Administers vision and hearing screenings as mandated by regulations.
- Ensures students’ immunization compliance with legal requirements.
- Assesses students’ health and development, identifying relevant physical conditions impacting learning. Collaborates with physicians to inform individualized education plans.
- Communicates assessment results to parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Refers students and parents to community resources for necessary services.
- Designs and implements personalized health maintenance plans, incorporating physician-directed strategies.
- Interprets medical findings for educational planning and provides recommendations.
- Counsels students and parents on health-related matters, including accessing appropriate care and understanding limitations.
- Enforces policies for excluding and readmitting students with infectious diseases.
- Delivers emergency care for injuries or illnesses and maintains accurate accident reports.
- Collaborates with parents and physicians to accommodate students’ needs during physical education.
- Promotes student and parent responsibility for optimal health.
- Performs additional assigned duties as necessary.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
