Purpose:
The Housekeeper & Laundry performs day-to-day activities in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility, and as directed by the Supervisor.
Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor
Primary Job Duties:
· Performs day-to-day housekeeping & laundry functions as assigned according to established procedures.
· Vacuums, dusts, cleans toilets, sinks, showers, floors, and windows in resident rooms. Uses safety signs on all wet floors.
· Maintains supplies on cleaning cart in an organized and effective manner, and keeps all bottles properly labeled.
· Uses time effectively and maintains a proper cleaning schedule.
· Assists with clean-up situations.
· Responds to requests of residents or staff in a calm, congenial and responsible manner.
· Assures that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
· Cleans/polishes furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units etc. in residents’ rooms, recreational areas, and other public areas as instructed.
· Cleans hallways, utility rooms, equipment, walls and ceilings, by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
· Discards waste/trash into proper containers and relines trash receptacles with appropriate liners in accordance with established infection control procedures.
· Does not leave cart unattended at anytime.
· Keeps janitor closet locked at all times.
· Follows fire safety policies and procedures, reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor, and follows safety precautions when performing all tasks.
· Coordinates routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
· Honors resident’s personal and property rights.
· Sort all linens and treat stains, load all laundry into washer and add specified cleaning agents
· Take wet, clean items and dry as directed
· Sort and fold or hang clean dried items
· Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to general manager
· Maintaining all laundry equipment and inform facilities manager as to any maintenance needs
· Perform additional laundry services when necessary and ensure clothes are returned the proper resident
· Keeps privileged information about residents confidential according to HIPAA guidelines.
· Upholds Laurel View Village’s Code of Conduct and follows Corporate Compliance guidelines per the LVV Employee Handbook.
· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
- Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
- Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
- Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Working Conditions:
· Works in all areas of the facility.
· May be exposed to infectious waste, including COVID 19, HBV and HIV.
· Sits, bends, stands, lifts and moves throughout the facility during the work day.
· May be required to work on weekends, holidays, and on shifts other than the one normally scheduled.
Other Requirements:
· Must be able to deal tactfully with supervisors, co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agency staff and the general public.
· Must be able to move throughout the facility during the work day.
· Must be able to follow instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions and other safety related procedures.
· May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in excess of forty (40) pounds throughout the workday.
· Must maintain confidentiality of resident information.
· Must be able to work independently and follow instructions given by supervisor.
· Must attend required training and education sessions offered by the facility.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Must have education ability to follow safety instructions relating to the mixture of cleaning compounds and other safety practices.
