Title: Talented Cook for Neighborhood Bagel Shop. Full Time but very flexible schedule.
Subject: Bad Guy Bagels is a single-location restaurant, owned by a husband-and-wife team who love NY-style bagels and welcoming hospitality. We have a rare opportunity to have a cook join us as we grow no baking experience required. In fact this person will not be doing any baking but rather cooking and preparing all the menu items that go along with the bagels we sell. We are not a corporate chain, simply a family-owned business who work daily in the shop alongside our great staff. Our goal is to open 4 additional locations, the hope is that the people we bring on early will have the opportunity to grow with us. For example, in an ideal world the person we bring on to manage and maintain our flagship kitchen would then be used to help set up and manage location 2 and so on . Allowing this person to potentially step into more of a managerial roll as they help us hire and maintain multiple kitchens throughout the growth of the business. We are looking for people who can truly contribute to the creation of this company. This location has only been open 3 months so there are many places the right person can leave a lasting mark on the business and will be compensated accordingly. The day in and day out of the job are not exceptionally difficult but a high level of competence and attention to detail is required. You will be the only full time kitchen staff and thus all kitchen related activity will fall on your shoulders. For instance we currently sell 150 lbs of cream cheese a week getting it all prepared and ready to sell is one of the main functions of this roll.
Doors open every day 6:30 am - 2 pm but you are not required to work every day. Because 90% of the kitchen work is prep, we allow for a lot of flexibility in terms of your schedule. We do not care how you split the hours up as long as everything is done and ready for when customers roll in.

Compensation: $15/hr -$21/hr full time position but flexible hours.
Duties:
- Prepare menu items according to recipes
- Assist with portion control and inventory management
- Ensure food quality and presentation meet the highest standards
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace
- Date all items as they are made and track the dates discarding anything past its use by date
- Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, deli slicer, 20 quart Hobart mixer
- Follow proper food safety procedures at all times
- maintain both sandwich rails ensuring all hotel pans are dated as they are prepared and replaced when used or expired.
- Cleaning is an important part of the job. Twice a week you are required to clean the bathroom and mop not just the kitchen but the entire store. The store is only 1000 square feet so this is not a huge task but a requirement non the less.
- Help develop with seasonal menu items
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant, catering, or similar setting
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and meal preparation
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils including knives
- Certification from a culinary school or relevant training is a plus

Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour
