Job Title: Valve Repair Technician – Sr. RP Technician
Position Description:
Our growing organization is looking for a Valve Repair Technician, with Sr. Radiation Protection (RP) qualifications, to support Safety Relief Valve repair needs that serve the nuclear energy market. This key position will support various functions within the organization that include but not limited to warehouse management, shipping & receiving support, valve repair, testing support, and radiation protection job coverage.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform job tasks while maintaining safety as a top priority.

- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments where required in relation to the work being performed.
- Operates crane, forklift, and other mechanical assists to move, position and unload heavy parts and assemblies.
- Ability to work well with peers.

- Willing to be flexible with work hours, departments, and schedules.
- Promote and drive continuous improvement and team engagement.
- Perform surveys of rooms and plant areas to document and identify changing radiological conditions.
- Perform surveys of Equipment for Transportation in accordance with NRC Bulletin 79-19 and DOT 49CFR172.
- Perform radiological job coverage of maintenance and operations activities to ensure regulatory and procedural requirements are met.
- Brief Radiation workers on radiological hazards of the work area.
- Calculate air sample results and evaluate radiological conditions against procedures, to ensure expected conditions have not been exceeded.
- Implement regulatory required programs, such as radioactive material/waste shipping, instrumentation calibrations and source checks, and dosimetry issuance.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED or higher.
- Requires basic & proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Physical requirements must be met with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Performs daily duties as assigned by Valve Repair Team Manager and Radiation Safety Officer.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must obtain Facility Unescorted Access.
- Chemistry and Mathematics courses and training and or work experience in Radiation Protection.
- Ability to pass knowledge exams and performance evaluations i.e. the EPRI process for Standardized Task Evaluations as described in the industry standard NISP-RP-12, Training and Qualification of Supplemental RP Technician.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts.
Desired Qualifications:
- Crane and or forklift certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with hand/power tools and machinist equipment.
- Two (2) years of experience in a chemistry and/or radiation protection nuclear setting.
- Aptitude for math and science as demonstrated by educational performance.
- Demonstrated ability/education to work in a scientific setting with experience in radio analytical separations and radio analytical instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately from detailed procedures.

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
