Job Overview
The Logistics & Customer Service Coordinator supports the sales department and is the communication channel for our customers & carrier partners. The effective daily management of selling freight, customer service (i.e., profitability and utilization) of resources, order tracking and carrier dispatch are their primary focus. Independent and discretionary judgment is applied when presenting customer and driver solutions and communicating concerns to management.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Greet customers warmly and ascertain problem or reason for calling.
- Answer product and service questions; suggest information about other products.
- Advise on company information and terms of sale.
- Open customer accounts by recording account information.
- Cancel or upgrade accounts.
- Maintain customer records by updating account information.
- Resolve customer complaints via phone, email, or mail.
- Maintain financial accounts by processing customer adjustments.
- Assist with placement/ cancellation of orders or exchanges.
- Manage large amounts of incoming calls.
- Arrange shipments by examining destination, route, rate, delivery time.
- Verifies merchandise shipped by matching bills of lading; reconciling quantities; noting discrepancies.
- Benchmark freight rates, negotiate rate structures and present findings to management.
- Freight forwarding functions such as booking, issuing delivery orders, etc.
- Check and confirm order status on pick-up and deliveries.
- Analyze freight bills for customer specific required information.
- Coordinate and expedite request, time-specific pickups and deliveries.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening.
- Strong customer support experience.
- Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Working knowledge of word processor, database and spreadsheet software
