Overview: This is a hands-on supervisory role with much of the time being spent out on the floor providing direction to the warehouse team and coaching employees on safety, quality, and internal/external productivity. The incumbent is responsible for shipping, receiving, warehouse storage, and order picking along with all production functions as it relates to material handling and coordinating these activities to ensure that all tasks are performed within both GMP and Food Safety regulations.
The Warehouse Supervisor leads and promotes a positive safety culture and engages the workforce for exceptional service at the facility to meet customer and production demands. The incumbent will monitor daily metrics and implement improvements to warehouse operations in pursuit of operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Ensure all shift production orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedules.
· Manage the shift scheduling of personnel, reception, handling, distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of warehouse.
· Evaluates safety, quality, and housekeeping levels daily by reviewing warehouse operations to ensure the warehouse is clean and well organized, and that damage to product, equipment, and the facility is prevented.
· Works with Quality to implement and maintain GMP programs such as HACCP including SOP development, employee training, and compliance reporting is completed.
· Primarily manages all aspects of the afternoon warehouse activities as well as supporting the midnight warehouse shift.
· Leads warehouse operations by prioritizing shipping, receiving, and production activities, providing leadership, coaching and direction to the warehouse team.
· Assists the Warehouse Manager in developing and leading regular warehouse communication sessions to review safety initiatives, quality issues, and overall warehouse performance.
· Responsible for the direct management and performance of shift hourly employees, Lead Hands on all shifts (Days, Afternoons, and Midnights) as well as Warehouse Coordinators (Days and Afternoons).
· Monitors, measures, coaches, and develops performance of direct reports, ensures adherence to policies and procedures, provides recognition, evaluates, and provides feedback on performance to employees and addresses complaints and resolves problems.
· Leads or participates in establishing work schedules and ensures that they are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned and completed effectively.
· Tracks daily attendance of warehouse employees, including sick days, vacation and overtime.
· Monitors attendance and addresses attendance issues with support from Human Resources.
· Monitors virtual inventory, investigates, and corrects inventory discrepancies as required daily.
· Develops Standard Operating Procedures as required.
· Participates in the hiring, training, and development of staff.
· Follow HACCP procedures. Complete all forms and records as set out by HACCP-TROPHY Foods Inc.
· Follow and enforce Trophy’s Food Safety policies and procedures, particularly related to operator certification, fork truck pre-start inspections, pedestrian awareness, and trailer chocking protocols.
· Follow and enforce Trophy’s Health & Safety policies and procedures; understand and adhere to regulations of OHSA.
· Train and orient new staff in the specific functions and tasks of their job, as well as all Health and Safety Practices and procedures.
· Promote and comply with TROPHY’s Health and Safety policies and procedures including the wearing of PPE, Lockout, WHMIS, etc.
· Accountable for investigating/reporting/recording (safety accountability) all work related accidents and property damage as it relates to the Warehouse Department.
· Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:
· High school diploma or two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Approachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team-oriented work style.
· Strong interpersonal skills including leadership, conflict resolution, and team building abilities.
· Excellent people leadership abilities and a dedication to continuous improvement.
· Experience working in an environment with pick and ship processes as well as high-volume computer-generated inventory control (barcoding, RF).
· Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
· Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflows under pressure to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
· Takes initiative, is proactive in their work, results oriented and works with minimal supervision.
· Proven ability to work effectively as a leader.
· Previous experience in a fast-paced environment.
· First Aid certification is an asset.
· Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Suite is required and Advanced JD Edwards skills an asset.
· Knowledge of HACCP is preferred.

Work Environment:
· Occasionally exposure to factors such as humidity, noise level over 85dB (mandatory hearing protection on the plant floor) and moisture which will cause frequent periods of discomfort.
· There is regular exposure to factors which carry an extreme risk of accident or illness which cannot be eliminated from the job.
· Overtime as required.
· The employee is expected to be flexible in terms of providing support and backup for functions outside of their job description and for working outside their normal working hours when necessary.
Sensory Attention:
· Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses (talk, listen, look) used in co-ordination to ensure the product is prepared according to schedule.
· Ability to apply common sense to problems involving mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, and dividing and written or oral instructions.
Mental Stress:
· There is noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy, or similar demands.
