The Wellesley Community Children's Center (WCCC) After School Program seeks qualified Site Coordinators to join its team for the 2024-25 school year!
WCCC’s After School Program provides after school and vacation day programs for children enrolled in the Wellesley Public Schools. Our programs follow the WPS academic calendar and operate daily from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m., including on early release days. Full day programs are offered on Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Good Friday, and February and April vacations. Though this is a ten-month, school year-only position, there is potential for year-round employment for qualified applicants interested in working summers at our Early Childhood Program.
The Site Coordinator will be responsible for providing on-site supervision of one of our six sites located within the public schools. This position requires a combination of direct service to students and administrative responsibilities in order to deliver the high-quality care and sublime curriculum WCCC is known for.
We are looking for leaders who:
- Are passionate about teaching as well as coaching and mentoring teachers
- Possess patience, empathy and a supportive attitude toward children and their families
- Have strong communication and collaboration skills, and can foster healthy relationships with parents, community partners, and Wellesley Public School staff
- Have experience creating and implementing emergent curriculum with diverse, high-quality, age-appropriate and enriching activities
- Can facilitate socio-emotional learning for children by providing support and guidance during interpersonal interactions and by developing activities to encourage growth
- Are flexible and able to adapt to program and schedule changes
- Possess strong large group management skills
- Work well as a part of a team
- Understand school-age child development and developmental differences; are able to work with students with special educational or emotional needs
- Have experience with state licensing
- Are interested in developing new, innovative programming
- Possess special skills in one of the following areas: art, music, theatre, sports, STEM, robotics, dance, or other enrichment specialities
Job Responsibilities include:
- Site management and teacher supervision
- Observation and assessment of children
- Curriculum planning and implementation
- Management of EEC licensing requirements for site
- Communication with families, including monthly calendars, newsletters and progress reports; strong writing skills are necessary
- Design and upkeep of a safe and inviting site environment
- Supervision and training of teachers, assistants, student teachers, and volunteers
- Facilitating professional development prior to and continuing through the school year
- Following cleaning and sanitizing procedures
- Purchasing all necessary supplies adhering to a budget and following expense reporting procedures
Other Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Education or related field desired)
- Meet EEC requirements for Site Coordinators
- Have experience working with elementary school-aged children; former site coordinator / child care leadership experience desired
- Previous supervisory experience required; experience supervising teachers, assistants, student teachers, and volunteers a plus
- Must be physically able to perform the role of a teacher of young, active children
- Must successfully pass a MA Background Records Check (CORI, SORI, DCF, and Fingerprinting)
- Are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to obtain any recommended additional doses or 'boosters'.
