The Station Chef is responsible for maintaining the food quality and menu execution of day-to-day Beast operations by preparing and prepping all menu items to specifications. The Station Chef will take on leadership roles in all kitchen areas and assist in training line cooks and prep cooks. This role is the most senior chef on the line and is required to be knowledgeable in all stations. The successful candidate should have at least 2 years of experience working in a high-volume kitchen, with a demonstrated ability to lead a team. They will work continuously to improve guest satisfaction and ensure SNHD sanitation and food standards are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Prepare all menu items according to approved recipes in a timely manner.
- Exhibit excellent time-management skills in food item preparation and customer service.
- Recommend menu items or ingredients that complement each other well.
- Understand all positions well enough to perform all stations within the kitchen.
- Work as a team member to ensure success in all areas of the restaurant.
- Maintain stations and prep all menu items in accordance with directives from the Executive Chef.
- Maintain a hygienic and safe work environment at all times.
- Fill in where needed to ensure that service standards and efficient operations are met.
- Report to work punctually.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained as outlined in the restaurant's safety and preventive maintenance programs.
- Monitor the quality of raw food products to ensure they meet standards.
- Recognize superior quality products, presentations, and flavors.
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
- Follow proper handling and maintain the right temperature of all food products.
- Work with local suppliers for the purchase of food, dry goods, supplies, etc.
- Manage inventory, COGs, labor, and more.
- Uphold AREA15's ART! (AREA15's service standards) at all times.
- Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be available to respond to time-sensitive matters
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Comfortable participating in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment and introducing new concepts and innovations.
- Proficient in making decisions and solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Skilled in resolving conflicts and negotiating with others.
- Must be able to apply SOPs to ensure consistency within your department.
- Proficient knowledge of applicable SNHD guidelines and requirements.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
- Holds valid work cards (Health).
- 2-3 years of high-volume restaurant experience.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills, including exceptional time management and delegation.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Proficient in the English language; additional language skills are preferred.
- Must have the ability to withstand high temperatures, heat, and sun exposure.
