A boutique Real Estate firm, specializing in commercial and residential assets, seeks an Accounting Manager. Person in this position has the opportunity to grow in a fast growing, exciting company with active and upcoming projects in DTLA, Hollywood, Echo Park, and Long Beach.
Job – The successfully hired Accounting Manager will work on all accounting and finance projects (prepare financials, account analyses, and financial reporting). Person in this position with report to the principals of the firm.
Compensation/Benefits– Starting salary for this role starts at $70,000/year and increases depending on qualifications. Standard benefits supplement base compensation.
DUTIES OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER
General Ledger Accounting
- Oversee the accounting department: inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, month-end closes, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and financial reporting
- Perform month and quarter end accounting closes
- Monitor weekly cash flows, including payments and receipts
- Generate financial flash reports for upper management on a periodic basis
- Manage external audit relationship with public accounting firm
- Recommend courses of action to help achieve financial goals of the company
- Manage your accounting staff
- Implement GAAP accounting standards at the company
- Ensure a continuous improvement mentality across the finance and accounting teams
- Look into automating as many accounting tasks as feasible
Construction Accounting
- Manage contracts, purchase agreements, change orders, lien releases, and insurance certificates
- Review General Contractor draws
- Prepare construction loan draws
- Maintain and manage project-related records, including budget, contracts, and change orders
- Prepare, review, and approve supplier invoices and overhead charges related to the project
- Track lien waiver and various insurance
- Initiate capital call to joint venture partners when needed
- Oversee performance project variance analysis and variance reports
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc segment and consolidated D&C reports as required by various internal and external partners
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Oversee preparation of financial statements
- Analyze variances between projected and actual expenses and revenues
Financial Reporting
- Provide information for reporting funds metrics, debt compliance, and periodic deliverables metrics to various deal makers within the organization
- Provide quarterly accounting closing packages, periodic cash reconciliations, interest accruals, dashboard reporting, financial statements, capital contributions and/or distributions
Technical Accounting
- Advise the accounting department on necessary technical accounting issues and trends
Miscellaneous
- Oversee Human Resources (HR) functions (payroll, benefits, hiring, and compliance
- Update all internal controls, in accordance with GAAP
SKILLS OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Required
- Expert-level MS Excel skill set (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF formulas, data validation, reconciling, etc.)
- Willingness to be hands on with all tasks
- Superior EQ skills (verbal and written)
