Position Summary: Under general nursing or medical supervision to direction, performs advanced professional nursing tasks in the care and treatment of patients in the inpatient unit of The Recovery Center.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensures patient safety.
- Properly administers medication.
- Takes temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Assesses vital signs, identifying abnormal readings, and acts accordingly.
- Assists with examinations of clients in the unit and obtaining histories; admits and discharges clients.
- Prepares and maintains nursing reports, charts, and other important medical records.
- Charts medications and pertinent information on client records; assists in keeping related records.
- Cares for and sterilizes equipment and instruments.
- Provides guidance and direction to paraprofessional personnel.
- Correctly records OMHIS information and leads film discussion.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education:
· Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Qualifications:
· Possess a valid Oklahoma License issued by the OK State Board of Nursing.
· Prefer one (1) year experience in the nursing field.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
· Considerable knowledge of principles, techniques, and methods of nursing care.
· Knowledge of appropriate detoxification protocols.
· Core competencies of co-occurring disorders.
· Knowledge of ASAM criteria.
· Knowledge/ability of (CIWA) scoring/observation/appropriate use.
· Knowledge/ability of (COWS) scoring/observation/appropriate use.
· Considerable skill in planning and administering professional nursing work.
· Skilled in directing and instructing professional and nonprofessional nursing personnel.
· A critical thinking ability to write NOW orders.
· Ability to follow both oral and written directions in exact detail.
· Ability to communicate ideas both orally and in writing.
· Considerable skill in exercising judgment, initiative, tact, self-control, and patience; in following details, oral and written instructions, and in maintaining a sympathetic and harmonious relationship with patients.
· Knowledge of disease process of chemical dependency.
· Knowledge of 12-step programs is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing sitting, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping and supporting patients.
- The employee is required to regularly talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be asked to work additional shifts.
