2nd Shift- Mon-Thurs - 4:00pm-2:30am & mandatory OT on Fri & Sat per management.
SUMMARY
Disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble and test various transmission components, subassemblies and complete assemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Disassembles transmissions and components by using hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Cleans transmissions and components by using manual and automatic washing equipment.
- Inspects transmissions and components for usability by using visual and mechanical techniques.
- Assembles transmission components and completes transmissions by using hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Tests completed transmissions and components using electric or manual testing equipment.
- Identify parts and components by model type.
- Follow written instructions for each workstation in the process.
- Operates various measuring and testing equipment to verify parts are within tolerance or properly assembled.
- Records various required data on paper travelers or via electronic methods.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and cleaning of assigned equipment.
- Clean and maintain an orderly work area.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Responsible for adhering to the policies, procedures, and instructions of the QS 9000 and IS0 14001 systems.
- Contribute to and ensure safe working conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for multiple hours at a time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently perform tasks requiring forceful repetitive grasping. The employee is occasionally required to walk for extended periods of time; bend; stoop; kneel or crouch and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to read and understand English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Most of the duties are performed in an air-conditioned area. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times – steel toe/nonslip shoes, eye protection and earplugs.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Air gun, assorted hand tools, manual or air powered torque wrench, various measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
MATERIALS
Transmission parts, transmission fluid, assembly lubes, sealing/locking compounds, solvent and aqueous based cleaning and paint products.
