Purpose of Position:
Hospital Police Watch persons (NYC Health + Hospitals) are to perform the duties of Position Title: Watch person, Each Watch Person serves at the discretion of the Director of Security and may perform tasks as described below and other tasks as requested or required by the Director of Security or their designee.
Watch Person are charged with:
a) Protection of life and property
b) Preventing crime
c) Preserving peace
d) Providing exemplary customer service
e) Providing excellent patient care
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complete all tasks in a timely manner.
2. Conduct safety patrols to include fire prevention, smoking violations, elopement risks and as otherwise requested or required.
3. Maintain a practical knowledge of all relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
4. Work to ensure compliance with all Health + Hospitals System policies, including but not limited to identification badging, smoking prohibition, fire safety and patient safety.
5. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with all persons including staff, patients, visitors, and regulatory agencies.
6. Report to duty as ordered, on time as scheduled on the master plan schedule posted.
7. Maintain full uniform when signing in/out for duty and while on post at the time designated for start of his/her tour.
8. Familiarize himself/herself with the location of the fire alarms, fire equipment, exists, stairwells and other items of equipment that impact the safety and security of the facility.
9. Adhere to the hospital policy with regards to confidentially, and refrain from making any statements about patients or staff.
10. Remain alert and vigilant at all times and challenge unauthorized person entering the hospital.
11. Keep order in corridors and waiting rooms, removing unauthorized persons, including hospital employees located in unauthorized areas.
12. Keep all entrances and loading docks clear of unauthorized vehicles.
15. When relieved for meal or breaks, be prompt in leaving and returning to post. Watch Persons shall not congregate on post or in public view.
16. Enforce the "NO SMOKING" regulations
17. Prevent unauthorized persons, vendors or solicitors from entering all Gotham sites
18. Perform directed and random patrols of all Gotham facilities, checking doors, exists and fire doors periodically to ensure that they are properly secured. If an office door is found open, secure it, Include all open door on the command log, patrol report and end of day report.
19. Ensure that the appropriate form {Property/Package Pass) is issued giving authorization for the removal of all office machines, property, and equipment being taking off premises.
20. Be alert at all times to prevent the unauthorized removal of Gotham property from the premises.
21. Submit timely and factual reports and documents as required.
22. Required to be trained for all Gotham sites.
23. Work extended hours when necessary.
24. Maintain a memo log.
25. Adhere to workplace culture which supports ICARE principles.
26. Practice ICARE costumer service.
13. Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies.
14. Remain on post until properly relived. If it is necessary to leave for any reason. Watch people shall obtain permission from their on-duty supervisor, make an entry in their department memo book.
