Kids Club Instructor
Job Description
Summary: We are looking for a charismatic leader interested in joining our team. The Kids Club Instructor is a seasonal part time position and is responsible for executing lesson plans and gathering supplies for their assigned sites. The Kids Club Program provides services for children whose parents attend English as a Second Language classes. Classes are located in schools or community centers where there is a high need for classes in Modesto, Riverbank, Newman or Empire. Class times are twice a week for two and half hours in the evening (5:30 pm-8:00 pm) and morning (8:30 am-11:00 am). Classes run for 25 weeks, excluding holiday breaks, during the period of September-April. The Kids Club Instructor will work together with team members serving 10-30 children ranging from 3-15 years old.
The ideal candidate is someone who has experience working with children in a professional setting or has taken courses related to child development and wants to gain experience. We provide initial training and continuous workshops throughout the school year. Training is provided throughout the year.
Qualification:
- Must be over the age of 18.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Minimum two years' experience working with childcare and planning and preparing activities for children or experience leading other employees.
- College training and other training in child development are encouraged.
- Bilingual in Spanish or any other language is helpful but not necessary.
- Minimum 8 months commitment (September-April): Schedule: 2 x per week to be determined by the Director.
- Passion for spending time with children, patience, dependability, and a positive attitude.
Duties: The duties of the Kids Instructor include the following:
- Create age-appropriate lessons for each class
- Make sure the site has the necessary supplies for lessons, crafts, and activities.
- Take lead in weekly team meetings and review lesson plans and activities with the team.
- Oversee children and team members.
- Assign and delegate team members designated tasks.
- Collect and gather attendance and necessary reports.
- Assess the children in a pre and post-test.
- Facilitate projects for children ages 3-15.
- Execute children’s lesson plans consistent with the program's weekly themes.
- When needed, communicate with the Program Manager to order necessary supplies like snacks, glue sticks, etc.
- Attending monthly workshops with the Program Director.
- Execute site rules for the program.
- Designate a time-out area for children.
- Follow a discipline plan with team members.
- Attendance in monthly staff meetings
Rate of Pay:
$18 per hour
Schedule:
This position is part-time seasonal working 8 - 16 hours per week. Depending on the number of sites working. Class instruction will total 5 hours per week with 3 hours of prep time. Days and times for each site have been determined and are non-negotiable. Review the times below to confirm that your availability matches at least one of the following:
Stanislaus Union School District (North Modesto area) -
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-8:00pm
Empire Union School District
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30-8:00pm
West Modesto Community Collaborative
Thursdays & Fridays from 8:30-11:00am
