Within the Office of Physical Security and Life Safety Systems this position oversees the University’s fire safety program, and also serves as the Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Management coordinator.
The fire marshal component of this job requires the incumbent to apply his/her knowledge of fire and life safety codes to the diverse academic and living environment at Villanova University. The incumbent conducts physical inspections of University facilities on a regular basis, including pre-event inspections of large venues. This position also oversees the inspection of fire all fire detection and suppression equipment, including fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and other automated fire suppression systems. The incumbent also serves as a primary point of contact for fire safety issues with local fire departments as well as Township, County, and State fire officials. The incumbent will also conduct training for students and employees on fire safety and emergency evacuation.
This position also supports emergency management planning, response, and recovery activities. This individual works with internal and external stake holders to maintain and implement Emergency Plan and Emergency Response planning and protocols, including updating the University’s Emergency Management Plan and developing communications strategies to educate the campus community on issues relating to emergency preparedness. This individual is responsible for maintaining the University Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and other emergency preparedness equipment in a state of readiness.
