Job Summary
We are seeking a talented
Full-time Bookkeeper to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Accounting department to maintain accurate financial records and ensure the company’s compliance with all legal requirements. The incumbent will manage day to day operations of a growing commercial contracting business. Your responsibilities will include recording and verifying transactions, bringing the books to the trial balance stage, and completing tax forms. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of best practices in accounting.
Responsibilities
- Enter financial data and transactions in QuickBooks to include all entries
- Verify the accuracy of transactions that have been entered
- Prepare trial balance
- Analyze budgets and other financial information
- Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Complete required tax forms, quarterly filing of sales tax and preparing files for annual taxes
- Set up of jobs and workflow management database.
- Work closely with our accountants, payroll personnel, management of AP/AR, client invoicing, contracts administration, Human Resources for on-boarding of new employees as needed, new business accounts and banking.
- Credit card reconciliation to ensure all charges are company related.
- Prepare weekly and quarterly financial reports for billing, deposits, accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare financial reports to include profit and loss statements monthly.
- Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases.
- Provide administrative support to the Owner/President/CEO as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred
- Previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, or similar position
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Good with spreadsheets, experienced in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and basic accounting systems. ADP/PC Payroll for Windows desired.
- Must have high proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team, prioritize tasks, manage multiple priorities, flexibility, and tight deadlines.
- Must be highly organized and results driven.
- High level of integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic.
- Must have a problem solving/ team player/ can do attitude.
- Independent, self-starter possessing solid judgment and effective decision making skills.
- Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills. Good punctuation, spelling, grammar, and attention to detail a must. Strong interpersonal skills essential.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
