Simpson Judge are working with a reputable law firm in Manhattan to identify a Tax Attorney with 3-7 years' experience. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and other attorneys to provide clients with expert tax advice and representation. Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Planning and Compliance: Assist clients in tax planning and compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Tax Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on tax issues, interpret tax laws, and provide legal opinions and strategies.
- Tax Controversy: Represent clients in tax audits, disputes, and litigation before tax authorities, including the IRS and state tax agencies.
- Transaction Support: Provide tax-related support for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other corporate transactions.
- Client Advising: Advise clients on tax implications of business operations and transactions, including tax-efficient structuring and planning.
- Document Preparation: Prepare and review tax returns, legal documents, and correspondence related to tax matters.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Professional Development: Stay current with developments in tax law and participate in continuing legal education (CLE) opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bar Admission: Admission to the New York State Bar.
- Experience: law, preferably in a law firm or corporate setting.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in tax software and legal research tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LL.M. in Taxation.
